Winners of Darmen Sakvakassov 2021 Rapid Chess Tournament Awarded
NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM – Building of Baiterek holding has hosted a ceremony to award winners of Darmen Sadvakassov 2021 rapid chess tournament held on August 5 – 14, reports Kazinform INA.
Prize pool of the tournament made 1,500,000 KZT. The tournament has brought together over 240 juniors from all the regions of Kazakhstan aged between 7 and 17.
Qualification and final stages of the tournament were held online on Lichess.org with monitoring of the participants via ZOOM vide conference. Qualification winners had their play off games in knock out system held offline on August 14.
As a result, winners were picked in three age categories:
U9 category:
1 – Sauran Bekmukhanov (Uralsk);
2 - Ramazan Amangeldy (Aktau);
3 - Timur Dushatov (Almaty);
4 - Abina Kairbekova (Karaganda).
U13 category:
1 - Daniyal Sapenov (Karaganda);
2 - Yergali Suleimen (Nur-Sultan);
3 - Zarina Nurgaliyeva (Atyrau);
4 - Inayat Bolat (Nur-Sultan).
U17 category:
1 - Kazybek Nogerbek (Nur-Sultan);
2 - Chingizkhan Sarzhanov (Kostanay);
3 - Alua Nurmanova (Almaty);
4 - Nurdaulet Tanatov (Kyzylorda).
Chief executives of organizations that arranged the tournament, Chairman of Management Board of Baiterek holding Aidar Arifkhanov, international grand master Darmen Sadvakassov, Chairman of Management Board of EIC KazakhExport JSC, Senior Vice President of Kazakhstan Chess Federation Ruslan Iskakov and Council Chairman of Bolashak Association Almas Kudaibergen awarded and congratulated the prize winners.
- We hold the tournament for the second year. Due to restriction measures in connection with the pandemic last year we held it online. This year, in compliance with sanitary measures, we decided to hold the awarding ceremony with invitation of the winners. The games were very interesting and capturing, said Aidar Arifkhanov and addressing the juniors he voiced hope that today’s prize winners will be Kazakhstan’s pride in the future.
