Preparation for the Shanghai Expo. Kazakh manufacturers conquer the Chinese market

On November 5 to 10, the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2020 will be held in Shanghai, where food products from 35 domestic companies will be presented. It should be noted that 27 companies from this list are participants of the first QazTrade ACCELERATOR Export Acceleration Program, launched this year by the Ministry of Trade and Integration together with PricewaterhouseCooper, the international partner.

In the Acceleration Program, companies have completed in-depth training and received the necessary export competencies. Kazakhstan products will be presented in nine groups of commodity items, including confectionery, meat and canned meat products, salt, flour and starch products, sauces, oils, animal and vegetable fat, dairy products, beverages and fish, crustaceans and shellfish processed and canned.

Participation of Kazakhstan companies in the international event has become possible despite the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and will be held in a semi-digital form - online/offline. Product samples will be displayed, as well as about 70 B2B negotiations with potential buyers from China will be held during the Expo. In addition to providing non-financial measures to support processed products export, Kazakhstan also has a developed system for providing financial support to exporters.

Thus, EIC "KazakhExport" JSC, a subordinate company of the Ministry of Trade, systematically promotes domestic products to the market of the People's Republic of China. KazakhExport has developed a catalog of domestic exporters that received Baiterek NMH JSC support in Russian, English and Chinese. The catalog includes 234 Kazakhstan manufacturers, 70 of which have permission to export to China, including 35 of the above-mentioned SIE participants. The catalog will be distributed among Kazakhstan establishments abroad.

In addition, the catalog was also forwarded to the Chinese partners of KazakhExport, PRC state organizations, and potential importers interested in Kazakh products. Recently, on October 23, KazakhExport organized online seminar on Kazakstan products promotion in Hunan, which was attended by the representatives of Hunan Zhonghong Management Co.LTD and Mitsui Co.LTD, the Chinese companies, and Kazakhstan companies. During the seminar, KazakhExport main financial and insurance support measures were presented, and the main problematic issues faced by manufacturers when exporting products to China were discussed. In the near future, it is also planned to organize online seminars with importers from Hubei, Zhejiang and Shaanxi provinces. To attract potential Chinese importers to visit the National Stand of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of SIE, a series of articles was published in WeChat, the Chinese social network (Entry of Kazakh safflower oil of KazIr-Agro in PRC retail chains, First deliveries of Eurasian Invest powdered camel milk to PRC, and Participation of 35 manufacturers of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Shanghai Import Expo).

According to Aslan Kaligazin, the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of EIC "KazakhExport" JSC, the Chinese market is one of the priority areas for the development of Kazakhstan export potential. "Kazakhstan products are noted for hight quality and environmental friendliness here. Our objective is to create comfortable conditions for Kazakhstan exporters, help them develop commercial ties in China, and increase the volume of deliveries with the support of our financial insurance instruments," he commented. Currently, within the framework of online negotiations between Kazakhstan manufacturers and potential Chinese importers, KazakhExport invited the companies from XUAR, Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan, Gansu, Zhejiang and Guangdong to participate in SIE.
