Kazakh-Mongolian Business Forum: ECA Expands Export Opportunities in the Mongolian Market

The Kazakh-Mongolian Business Forum was held in Astana at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), with the participation of Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Jadamyn Enkhbayar, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, development institutions, and business communities from both countries.

The Forum served as an important platform for deepening trade and economic cooperation, expanding export opportunities, and establishing direct ties between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The program included panel sessions, a document signing ceremony, and B2B meetings held in a “speed dating” format.

The Forum was focused on the practical advancement of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In this context, a key outcome for the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA) was the signing of an Agreement with Mon-Kaz Trade & Investment Hub LLC aimed at establishing sustainable mechanisms to support export projects and expand the presence of Kazakh producers in the Mongolian market.

The partnership provides for:

  • promotion of goods and services of Kazakh producers in the Mongolian market;
  • joint development, structuring, and support of export projects and transactions;
  • application of ECA support instruments;
  • identification of potential partners and buyers, as well as consideration of opportunities for implementing pilot projects;
  • exchange of analytical and marketing information, as well as coordination of business missions and industry events.

A priority area of cooperation will be the development of non-resource exports from the manufacturing sector through the use of ECA instruments.

The signing of the Agreement reflects ECA’s comprehensive and institutionally grounded approach to advancing international cooperation and building sustainable infrastructure to support non-resource exports. The practical implementation of the agreements reached will not only expand the presence of Kazakh companies in the Mongolian market, but also enhance the efficiency of foreign trade operations through the use of modern financial instruments, including insurance, guarantees, and trade finance mechanisms aimed at mitigating commercial and political risks.

The Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its role as the national institution for supporting non-resource exports, providing a full cycle of project support — from identifying partners and structuring transactions to their financial implementation and ensuring sustainable deliveries.
