Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan held talks with NEXI

Chairman of the Board of JSC Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA) Allen Chayzhunusov met with Senior General Director of NEXI - the State Export Credit Agency of Japan and President of the Berne Union Akita Yuichiro.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in order to attract direct Japanese investment in the economy of Kazakhstan. Allen Chayzhunusov emphasized the importance of advanced Japanese technologies and outlined key areas of interaction with NEXI on projects in Kazakhstan, proposing to consider the possibility of joint insurance to support Kazakhstani exporters purchasing Japanese equipment, namely:

  • Insurance and reinsurance of export loans for the supply of technology and equipment to export-oriented production in Kazakhstan.
  • Sharing risks with foreign ECAs when exporting existing Kazakhstani production facilities with the participation of Japanese capital, technology and equipment.
  • Insurance of investment risks when financing projects and creating export-oriented sites in Kazakhstan.

«ECA is ready to support its exporters in implementing their CAPEX programs and share risks with NEXI in such transactions, including through incoming reinsurance. We see significant potential in cooperation with Japanese business, and ECA has all the necessary resources to stimulate the export of Kazakhstani products to East Asian countries. Combining our efforts within our mandates will help to intensify mutual trade and exchange best practices»  A. Chaizhunusov emphasized.

Akita Yuichiro, in turn, expressed NEXI's active interest in ECA's portfolio in the field of loan insurance and export credit, proposing to identify specific projects for reinsurance and co-insurance in order to effectively share risks.

At the end of the talks, the head of ECA discussed with Akita Yuichiro the details of the Berne Union meeting, which will be held in Astana in 2026, where the world's leading financial institutions, ECAs, reinsurance companies, as well as government agencies of the participating countries will gather.
