Issues of economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation were discussed in Prague
On March 1, 2017 the ninth meeting of the Kazakh-Czech Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Prague being co-chaired by Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakhytzhan Djaksaliyev, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jiří Koliba.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, investments, energy, industry, education and science, agriculture, tourism, as well as interregional interaction.
The mutual trade turnover between the countries for the year 2016 amounted to $252.2 million US dollars, which is 7.2% less than in the year 2015 ($271.8 million US dollars). The reason for the decline in the level of trade was the decline in prices for commodities and energy carriers in world markets. In this regard, the parties noted the importance and necessity of intensifying and strengthening trade and economic relations and a high interest in further implementation of the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of the two countries and peoples.
The work of the Intergovernmental Commission was conducted in 2 working groups: on cooperation in the field of energy and in all other spheres (industry, agriculture, science and education, health, tourism, etc.).
Following the meeting, the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission Bakhytzhan Dzhaksaliyev and Jiří Koliba signed the final minutes of the ninth meeting.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Czech Office for Standardization, Metrology and Testing, and a Memorandum of Understanding between KazakhExport and the Czech Export Guarantee and Insurance Company EGAP
On the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, a training seminar and an excursion to the production of LINET company, which produces medical and hospital equipment, was organized for the group of experts of the Ministry of Health.
During the visit, in order to study the Czech experience, B. Dzhaksaliyev visited a modernized power plant in the city of Tushimitsa and also met with Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament - Chairman of the Czech-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary friendship group Vojtěch Filip. During this meeting the whole spectrum of bilateral relations was discussed including inter-parliamentary relations.
