«KazakhExport» Export insurance company» joint-stock company Participates in Trade Mission to Yerevan, Armenia

On May 20, 2015, Yerevan hosted the first trade mission of Kazakh manufacturers arranged by the National Agency for Export and Investments “Kaznex Invest” of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Investments and Development with the participation of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The trade mission traditionally was held in the business forum format. The Kazakh delegation included representatives of 13 companies operating in the country’s construction, engineering, metallurgy, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. The Armenian side was represented by similar businesses.

Today, Armenia’s membership in the EEU gives the two countries a real opportunity to work on their mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields. Kazakh exporters are ready to offer the Armenian consumer a wide range of goods including engineering products, chemicals, food products, name but a few. On the other hand, Armenian partners has the coproduction and joint investments opportunities.

According to Mr. Karen Martirosyan, Executive Director of the Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the day before the forum guests from Kazakhstan visited the Ministries of Energy and Natural Resources, Healthcare, and Urban Development, and Mayor’s Office of the capital. Over 100 Armenian companies took interest in cooperation with Kazakh partners. Currently, Armenia offers Kazakh market its traditional products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, alcoholic products and processing industry products.

In course of the dialogue between businessmen from the two countries, the parties presented their products, discussed export and import opportunities and other foreign economic cooperation issues. The negotiations resulted in signing of collaboration agreements in pharmacy and construction.

For reference:

In 2014, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Armenia was USD 8.2 millions, where export from Kazakhstan to Armenia accounted for USD 0.4 millions, while import from Armenia to Kazakhstan - USD 7.8 mln. The trade turnover between the countries curtailed drastically in the first quarter of 2015. As to the transportation expenses, shipping of a 20-ton freight by car from Astana to Yerevan approximately costs USD 4,000, while similar shipping from Almaty to Yerevan costs USD 4,500.
